I’m at home visiting my family this weekend and I came across this great article in the NYT about how Silicon Valley millionaires don’t feel rich. I’ve tried to explain this syndrome to my parents and family members before, but it’s hard to do so without coming across as a crazy person. I think this article is one of the better articulations I’ve read in a major publication. If the Joneses next door have $10 million, keeping up with them is no easy task.
One of the things that continues to fascinate me about life in the technology industry is the sense of economic unease that seems to afflict people who are doing well by most conventional standards. All comparisons are relative in the end, I suppose.
Hey Dude,
I hope all is well on the transition! I wanted to let you know how I enjoy reading your blog…been doing it in stealth mode all last year!!!
