I’ve been experimenting with a bunch of different tools to keep up to date on upcoming technology events and conferences. I’ve been using a combination of Gary’s Guide, Upcoming, blogs, and word-of-mouth. As someone who organizes conferences, I also get a lot of requests to post events to my own list of past attendees. Well, I can’t always cross-post things from my friends to the folks who have attended my conferences in the past, but I have come up with a really simple solution. I’ve created a Google group that anyone can join and I’m going to use it to regularly (as in twice per month tops) send out a digest of upcoming conferences. The one catch is that if you want your event listed or mentioned, you need to offer a discount / freebie / benefit of some sort to folks on the list.
I’m going to run this little experiment for a few months and see how it goes. Click here if you want to join the Tech Conferences Announcements Google Group.

Smart. We use google calendar here – at least for the top important events that have to be on our radar.
